The Reality Of History
For this module I was required to place a pin on a map blindfolded and this was my way of working in order to receive my locations to photograph. I managed to place my pin on Christchurch Park, where Christchurch Mansion is situated. This Mansion has now been restored as an art gallery however used to be the mansion where several victorian families once lived. Many of these subjects in the painting’s inside the mansion were the people who once lived within those walls. Many of these family members were beheaded during their time at this mansion, personally I thought I could create a body of work which I could call - ‘The Reality Of History’. This was because whilst walking around the mansion undertaking several visits, I was inspired by the painting’s histories, I used the lighting to my advantage to play on the reality of the painting’s histories by beheading the paintings that hung on the mansion walls.
